JACKIE RYDER

“Bold, quirky, graphic, colourful and eclectic are the words that best describe my style. I love working with colours, shapes and whatever else grabs my attention to create distinctive designs that can be made into practical homewares and accessories.

The fabrics I am drawn to are linen, cotton and silk because of their textural qualities, and the way they take colour differently from synthetic fibres.

I’ve had a life-long interest in art and completed a bachelor of Design (Interiors) at Otago Polytechnic after 20 years work as a physiotherapist. Since then I’ve combined my art skills with digital technology to create surface textile patterns either digitally or screen printed onto fabric. My designs are a work in progress, I’m always on the lookout for new ideas and ways to use my patterns. My goal is to build a high quality, long lasting products and a textile range to be used and enjoyed by many .“
